The amount of UK asbestos compensation you are entitled to claim for industrial disease: asbestosis, mesothelioma and lung cancer

On this page you will learn how your UK accident lawyer calculates the amount of money your asbestos compensation is worth - examples are given of how much UK compensation you can expect to receive for lung disease caused by asbestos inhalation including asbestosis, lung cancer and mesothelioma.

How does your accident lawyer know how much UK asbestos compensation to claim for your pain and suffering?

Your accident lawyer is able to value pain and suffering for your industrial injury by looking at the sums awarded for a similar injury in the UK courts in the past.

If a past claim was decided some years ago - your accident lawyer will increase the sum in line with inflation before using it to value your injury as at today's date.

How much money is your asbestos compensation likely to be worth?

The value of your asbestos compensation depends upon the type of lung disease caused:

As a rough guideline, in 2007, you could expect to receive the following amounts:

1. Asbestosis

The amount of asbestosis compensation depends on how bad your lungs are affected by the condition, but it is normally between:  £27,000 - £61,000

2. Lung cancer

Lung cancer is not as painful as mesothelioma, but will usually cause death.  The amount of UK asbestos compensation depends on how long and how painful the symptoms are, but it is normally worth between:  £45,000 - £58,000

3. Mesothelioma

Mesothelioma is a very painful condition and will usually cause death.  The amount of UK mesothelioma compensation depends on how long the symptoms last, but it is usually worth between:  £47,000 - £74,000

Regretfully many of the industrial diseases caused by asbestos can cause death, but the families of the deceased can continue a compensation claim on behalf of the deceased.  Click on the link under my photograph if you would like me to explain more.

You have seen what the most common lung diseases caused by exposure to asbestos are - including asbestosis and mesothelioma, how your industrial injury solicitor knows how much asbestos compensation to claim on your behalf  together with examples of how much you can expect to receive in compensation for each disease.

Asbestos-related diseases are one type of industrial disease, but I now recommend you learn how much you can expect to receive when you claim compensation for two other industrial diseases: industrial deafness and repetitive strain injury.
