Electric Wheelchair Mobility Vehicle Accident: Claim Car Damage Injury

Can you claim compensation for a UK car accident caused by an electric wheelchair or mobility vehicle?

Find out in a question and answer session how to claim for vehcile damage and injury – if you were involved in a car accident caused by an electric wheelchair or mobility vehicle.

Car Accident Victim Question

“I was driving across a pelican crossing while the lights were on green, when a man in an electric wheelchair deliberately drove his chair into the side of my car causing approx 5 to 6 hundred pounds worth of damage. This person is known to the police for causing problems.”

“The man is known to the police for causing problems and is also registered mentally ill.”

“Would I be able to claim compensation for my motor vehicle damage?”

Road Traffic Accident Solicitor Response

Any claim for damage should be made against the person who caused the accident.

If that person was mentally ill – it is likely he was being supervised at the time of the accident and so the body responsible for his supervision might also have a liability.

Any insurance in place will be used to indemnify the persons you claim against.

I suggest you check on your motor policy to see if you have legal protection cover and use that cover to pay for a lawyer to make the claim on your behalf.

Please see my website for a page I have written explaining what legal protection cover is.
