If you cause a road traffic accident can you claim compensation from your own motor insurance company?
The answer to this question depends on what the compensation is for:
1. If you have comprehensive motor insurance you can claim compensation for your vehicle damage even if the car accident was your fault.
2. You cannot claim compensation for your injuries if the RTA was your fault, but your passengers can claim compensation from you (and in turn your motor insurer will meet your liability) for causing the accident.
